We have lived here since 2002 & our two children went to school nearby. We renovated the property ourselves & have made the gîte somewhere that we would be happy to stay in ourselves & that we hope you will call it your 'home from home'. The gîte adjoins our property, but is totally private & autonomous. We speak French and English (some Italian & Spanish) & can help out with any problems. We are happy to share with you our knowledge of the region and can point you in the direction of any number of interesting destinations.
We love the tranquility of our little village; the walks in the beautiful countryside; cycling along the quiet lanes; the rolling views with fields of sunflowers in late summer; the varied birdlife; long summer evenings; eating at the many & varied local restaurants; swimming at the nearby river & lake beaches; canoeing on the river Dronne; visiting chateaux & vineyards for their world famous wines. There is a lot to do around here including a wide range of outdoor activities (hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, golf, tennis, swimming, fishing, horse riding), cultural activities including a circuit of over twenty 12th century churches, medieval villages, museums, artist's studios, concerts) local farmers' markets and restaurants). We are well located for visiting the châteaux of the Valley of the Dordogne and the prehistoric sites close to Sarlat and Les Eyzies. Midway between Périgueux and Angoulême (45 minutes by car), airports (& carhire) are at Bergerac (1 hr) & Bordeaux (1.5 hrs). The TGVs from Charles de Gaulle Airport (3 1/2 hrs) and central Paris (2 1/2 hrs.) stop at Angoulême and go on to Bordeaux.
