Le Moulin d'Arcas is a 17th Century water mill with private access to the river Jaur and panoramic views from the garden. After a devastating flood in October 2018 Mas du Moulin- now renamed Le Moulin d' Arcas, is having an overhaul! Le Moulin was flooded throughout the ground floor and the garden submerged. The extreme flood waters caused us to lose a lot of trees in the garden and the river bed has dramatically widened. With the changes brings a few surprises- huge, beautiful stones that line the river bank, a beach where the trees used to be and so many more ducks- maybe this is how it would have looked in 1664 when the property was built. There are 3 bed and breakfast rooms with ensuite shower and toilet. These have a separate entrance from the main house. A buffet style continental breakfast is provided with additional egg dishes on request- served in the dining room, on the terrace, garden or even in your room! We provide evening meals on a “Table d'Hote” basis and can cater for all tastes. Reservations are required 24 hours in advance. We are pet friendly so please let us know if you are bringing your pets. We do have 2 small hypo allergenic dogs.
L'Arcas is a small hamlet of 5 other houses accessed directly off the D908 within walking distance to Premian in the Haut Languedoc National Park. The Moulin is situated at the end of the hamlet with no through road and is surrounded by the river Jaur and a vineyard. A 5-10 minute easy walk takes you into Premian with a bakery/convenience store, restaurant with outside terrace and an arts and cultural centre- Au Fils des Arts. The arts centre holds regular cinema and concert nights and has an annual cultural festival in August- now in its 20th year. Premian itself holds its own additional summer festival. The area has numerous options for outdoor activities including hiking,horse riding, river swimming, canoeing and cycling. The "Voie Verte"- a 76km cycling and walking path running along an old railway line is a 5 minute walk from the property. This continues through the Jaur and Orb valley with stunning scenery. Close by are the spectacular Gorges d' Heric and the village of Olargues listed as one of Frances "most beautiful villages". The beaches of the Mediterranean Sea are approximately an hour away by car with a lovely drive through vineyards and small towns and villages.
