La Sentinelle is a traditional village house situated in the heart of the medieval village of Siran. Parts of the house dates back to medieval times and has a tower which was part of the original village defences. The tower incorporates the original spiral staircase. You will have breakfast in the room which once housed the village school run by the nuns from the nearby convent. The schoolroom is also furnished with comfortable sofas and a television for guests to use. There are large windows and double doors opening out to a courtyard and the swimming pool. Above the schoolroom there is a large terrace which is available for the use of guests. There is a small terrace at the top of the tower where you can sit and take in the view of the village rooftops, vineyards and, in the distance, the Pyrenees.
We are Anna and Philip Vining and, along with Gigi our cocker spaniel, we will be your hosts. Over the years we have spent wonderful holidays in France and had always wanted to own a house there, and when the opportunity presented itself, we bought La Sentinelle in Siran. The house has now been restored and refurbished and we will be ready to open at the end of June 2018. With my background in conference organising and Philip’s background in business management we feel prepared for this new project and look forward to welcoming you to La Sentinelle.
La Sentinelle is situated within the medieval part of Siran on a quiet road next door to the village boulangerie. The boulangerie is at the heart of the village where locals buy their bread and catch up with the local news. The bread and pastries for your breakfast will be bought there every morning. The village shop and bar are in the next street, so within easy reach. The pretty cobbled streets of the centre of the village are just round the corner and we are also within easy walking distance to the vineyards surrounding the village. Siran is in the heart of the Minervois region, close to the Canal de Midi and the historic towns of Carcasonne, Minerve and Narbonne. It is the perfect base for exploring the region's rich history; also, for those who enjoy walking or cycling holidays.
