Our gite is a centuries old cottage, completely modernised, in a pedestrian street in the old Jewish quarter of Pezenas. Quirky, original and historically significant features give our cottage a real feel of life over the passing centuries in this ancient town. Step straight out of our pretty cottages, nestled in a quiet back street, and immediately into lively, stunningly beautiful, historic Pezenas. Our cottages are in the historic heart of this little town, a historic gem, bustling with bijou restaurants and cafes, craft shops, artists’ workshops, markets, boutiques of all description. Our cottages, built around 500 years ago, are typical of the Languedoc but have been fully modernised with all the amenities you would expect. The thick stones walls ensure coolness in the height of the summer and cosy warmth in the cooler months. They reflect the region and their age…with exposed beams and stonework, wonky walls and a medieval, ornamental façade. Inside, the décor is simple and highly maintained with all the facilities needed for a comfortable holiday.

Pezenas is lively, bustling, small town, steeped in history. It is forever linked with the famous French playwright, Moliere, who performed regularly for the king, right here in the town. Our cottage is right in the heart of the old town, in what, many years ago, was the Jewish quarter....our street leads directly up to the castle ( now ruined ) Pezenas is in the heart of wine country, with local domaines and their chateaux at a stone's throw, offering free tastings with tapas and selling their wines directly or in Pezenas Saturday market and Friday evening fete, during the summer. The Mediterranean is only 20 minutes car drive away....the beaches are sandy and widespread, water sports are readily available and their are plenty of picturesque, lively seaside towns to lunch in, enjoy a leisurely stroll or find some serious nightlife! Beziers airport is 20 minutes away, with car hire readily available. There are buses from Pezenas to the airport, to Montpellier and to various coastal beaches. Although there is no parking directly in front of the property, there is short term parking (payable) and long term (free) close by. ( Parking Voltaire, Parking St Jean des Pres )
