Our charming 'maison de maître' welcomes you to an enchanting, picturesque setting. Here you can simply enjoy village life, or head to the nearby coast for a host of sand and sea activities. Our walled garden is brimming with plants attractive to birds, bees , and butterflies, hence our name. We welcome you to our characterful home. We have two en suite bedrooms available for this season. Both rooms are delightfully presented, with king size beds and fresh bedding, en suite shower rooms and views over the gardens or palms. Tea/coffee facilities are provided and bathrooms are supplied with complimentary toiletries. Breakfast can be taken in the sunny dining room, overlooking the front garden where there are roses, hypericum and four palm trees or, on sunny mornings, we invite you to take breakfast in the garden. Set in the heart of Plomodiern, there are restaurants, one of which is a Michelin two star owned by local chef Olivier Bellin, all within a stroll of the house. Also in town is a pizzeria, a creperie, a bar tabac, a very well respected bakery, and a traditional market every Friday. There are also a number of art galleries and a supermarket, all within an easy stroll.

Maison Papillons Chambres d'Hotes is a 'maison de maitre' that was formerly owned by Plomodiern's doctor and his family (from 1910 to 1965). It has a fascinating history and some of this can be seen in our guide when you visit. All rooms are king-size doubles with private en suite shower rooms and have tea/coffee, a hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. There are attractive gardens (although some areas are works in progress!) and you are welcome to take tea of coffee in our sunny seating areas. Wi-Fi and limited parking are free and there is additional parking nearby.
Maison Papillons is just 2.5 miles from sandy beaches at Lestrevet and Pentrez, with surf at the adjoining Pors Ar Vag. Enjoy sand yachting and windsurfing, or choose from several bars with food along the beach road. Some of the most beautiful coastal paths in Brittany will lead you to many other smaller coves and beaches, each with its own special character. Menez Hom, locally known as The Mountain, has 360˚ views to coast and countryside. Walks among the dunes at Treguer offer eye-catching sea views over the bay. Within a short drive, you will find the remarkable and historic village of Locronan, pre-dating the 9th century. It is a listed Historic Monument and a wonderful place to visit. Browse the bookshop and gift shops, potteries, restaurants and galleries, as well as the impressive 15th century church. Also close by, visit Chateaulin with many shops and riverside restaurants, as well as its lovely walk along the Nantes-Brest Canal. Douarnenez offers beautiful coastal walks, beaches and restaurants around the harbour. Quimper, Brittany's cultural capital, with its markets, and beautiful mediaeval influenced architecture, is also worth exploring.
