Saumur is a commune in the Pays de la Loire department in western France. The historic town is located between the Loire and Thouet rivers, and is surrounded by the vineyards of Saumur itself, Chinon, Bourgueil, Coteaux du Layon, etc. which produce some of France's finest wines. We sit in the heart of the Saumur Le Puy Notre Dame vineyards close to the beautiful villages of Montreuil Bellay and Le Puy Notre Dame and the more functional market town of Doue en Anjou. Plenty of local restaurants and wineries to visit during your stay. Boat trips on the Loire River are a must as are the many chateaux that can be visited locally.
