As a holiday and winter rental business Grandmont Gites has thrived since its conception in 2008. To date we remain no. 1 on TripAdvisor in the area with more than 50 reviews regularly scoring full marks. Our gites are charming, stylish and cosy but what makes them unique is the setting. Grandmont is picturesque and a true gem in rural France. The views are simply breathtaking and as our guests often comment upon arrival, photos simply cannot do it justice. Everyday throughout the year we see ramblers, cyclists and people driving through who cannot help but slow down the pace to admire Grandmont Gites - often even to take photographs! If you enjoy beautiful countryside, peace and tranquility then you certainly won't be disappointed. Charming gites. Huge garden with games and equipment to entertain the kids plus pool table and ping pong. And to boot, a good sized heated salt-water pool. Stunning walks. Local to Ambazac. All set within acres of forest land. It is a place to chill out or go and explore. We welcome guests from around the world, many of which return again and again. That in itself speaks volumes.
My husband James and I, Louise, explored the depths of France in search of the perfect spot to set up home and business. We found it here in Grandmont and can't imagine ever leaving! In the UK James fitted bespoke kitchens and bathrooms (many of which have been featured in design magazines, our own included). Meanwhile I worked in telecommunications (BT plc) for 25 plus years. My last role before leaving England was to manage internal communications for London 2012. A fantastic heady experience indeed and one never to be forgotten. But these days we are both much happier and more relaxed people because we are right where we feel we belong. Grandmont is now our home and we have integrated into this small hamlet with ease, having made many new friends locally and in guests, who enjoy life and are there for another.
We count ourselves among 32 residents in Grandmont. The neighbourhood is primarily young (30s to 50s) and have been settled here for some years. There are also a few that have been here since being children themselves. The families and children in the hamlet are a delight and a joy to around. Here children are well behaved, pleasant and very innocent. For a quiet little hamlet our neighbours sure know how to socialise and we can often be found passing the time together. A good number of our guests have also joined in the soirees! Grandmont has a zero crime rate so everyone feels safe in this beautiful little haven. Ambazac is our nearest town and is very pretty. There are 3 supermarkets, boulangies, butchers, hair dressers, bars and diners, takeaways, tobacs, markets, dry cleaners and everything else you need. Limoges is about 35 minutes by car. It's a beautiful city with much to see and do - Paris with the hustle! Lake Saint Pardoux is about 12 mins by car - a beach in reach! It's actually a manmade lake with sandy beach, picnic area, water-sports galore, tree climbing and zip-wiring plus a picnic area.
