Informations sur l'hôte
Welcome to our deceptively spacious town house! We have been renovating it ensuring many of the original features remain so it retains it’s original character and history. These include the floors, windows, staircase and fireplace. It has led a life before before we bought it and we have tried to respect that. It’s a quirky and characterful home, interesting, quite old, and for us is a perfect French place to stay. We find it easy to relax here and hope that you do too. We have over the years replaced the bathroom, downstairs cloakroom and the kitchen and installed a utility room and made sure that it is fully equipped. The lounge with it's high ceilings is a perfect place to relax, either to hide from the midday sun or in the evening with a book or play a game or two whilst having a glass of wine. The thick stone walls are great for keeping the room cooler in the sun or keeping the heat in during the evening. The well equipped kitchen opens up to the courtyard, Up our original staircase are two bedrooms, the front has high ceilings with two double beds and the bedroom at the back has a king size and single daybed. Both rooms have wardrobes and are characterful in their own way
Welcome! My name is Mel. I am a Welsh girl who loves her family. I'm a sign writer and artist and also a carer. We have enjoyed renovating our home and have tried to make it as interesting and homely as we could and we find it very relaxing. I hope you do too.
Chef Boutonne is a busy market town with a lot of history. Part of it is the Chateau which was built in the 16th Century in the Renaissance style and has a beautiful lake behind which you can purchase a fishing permit at the town hall. The town also has two churches, the Saint Chartier dating back from the 12th Century and the Notre Dame from the 19th Century. There is also remains of the castle and several of the wash places to see. There are some beautiful walks in and around the town. The town has a lot to offer including two boulengeries one of which is directly across the road, perfect for breakfast! In the town centre is the other boulengerie, which also sells bread and has beautiful cakes and chocolates. There are two supermarkets, two chemists, a post office, a newsagents, restaurants, a local market every Saturday and an outdoor swimming pool just a few minutes walk away. It also has a cinema in the town centre which shows english speaking films. Poitou Charentes benefits from up to 2,400 sunshine hours a year and is the second sunniest region of France, making this area one of the most pleasant climates. Winters are really mild thanks to the oceanic climate
