The really nice thing about this cottage is that it is unique, restored and renovated to a very high standard and gives a feeling of openess and space. This 3 storey cottage was once the village central cafe, so the front of the house and its location reflect that. iThe exterior has a genuine rustic unfinished look, in contrast to the finished and polished interior. Guests can enjoy this restored cottage, the beauty of its wood, its design, its location and quiet pretty meadow, next to the very source of the Charente river. Choose this house because the neighbours are so friendly, the picnic area is large and shady, the amenities are all new and fully functioning. This little corner house watches over the sleepy village of Cheronnac. It's nice- come and visit.
My husband and I are New Zealanders, fluent in both English and French. We purchased this cottage in Cheronnac as a holiday home. The 1800's house has seen many changes, our restoration being the most recent. We have both travelled extensively and know what is required to make a holiday home feel comfortable and welcoming. This house is so easy to live in and you feel part of the village immediately.
Cheronnac House and Meadow is situated in the centre of a quiet, pretty village, surrounded by country lanes and woodland. The village has a local bar, post office and bread is delivered twice weekly. There are numerous walks and local sites to visit, in addition to markets and produce fairs, in July and August. Visitors staying in Cheronnac can visit the leisure lakes of St Mathieu and Ste Estephe. Numerous small towns close by provide supermarkets, restaurants, bars and other shops.
