La Brasserie has the best of both worlds. It is close to all the facilities of the lovely picturesque town of Montmorillon and it's good choice of restaurants and it has the countryside on it's doorstep, so a lovely quiet. Because we are a small business we are more flexible than the large hotels. People can come and go as they like as they have a key to the front door. If people have special dietary needs they can be catered for, as long as they say in advance. Also loads of advice about the local area. We have found we are very popular with larger groups as we have 5 bedrooms in the Bed and Breakfast and 2 further bedrooms in our apartment. They enjoy having the house to themselves!
John and I run the house together. I deal with all the front of house and look after my treasured garden. Although I do not have a lot of spare time, when I do you will find me there. I like a cottage garden, which is natural looking, but with coordinating colours and loads of beautiful fragrances. Previously in England I had two careers. One I was a manager of various restaurants and the other I was a social worker. I have found all my experiences have helped in running La Brasserie. John loves to make things and has done all the renovation at the house and still has several ongoing projects to finish there. Being a perfectionist has made such a difference to the finish of the renovation and we always have people singing the praises of his work,when they stay. It helps it is such an elegant building!
We are in the beautiful department of Vienne, on the edge of the loveliest town 30 km from here. Poitiers is only 45 minutes away and has everything you could want from a city there. We love to eat good food and you are spoilt for choice for local produce and good restaurants. Then there is the architecture and countryside. However if you want attractions, we have Futuroscope, the Valley of the monkeys, The race circuit Val de Vienne and much more.
