Apartment Bateau Ivre is one of the medieval buildings that give Dinan its character. This one is even more distinctive because of the way the timbers have bent over the centuries. When I bought it I found that people often called it 'the old ship' and because of its shape I decided it was like a drunken ship and named it after the famous poem by Arthur Rimbaud, 'Le Bateau Ivre'.

There are two parts to Dinan - the old city where the apartment is and the old port on the river Rance. Right on your doorstep you have numerous cafés, restaurants, shops, squares, markets, galleries, old churches, a theatre and wonderful old buildings to explore. Walk down the the hill to the river for more cafés and restaurants, an art gallery and river trips. Don't be deterred by the thought of the steep climb back - you can always catch 'Le Petit Train'!
